About

"Where all think alike there is little danger of innovation"   Edward Abbey

Untitled Architecture is an architecture and design firm based in the Rocky Mountain West and practicing nationwide. We operate under the premise that architecture is for people. Our work is specific to its site, its use, and its user. Each project is a unique opportunity to explore material and spatial qualities through the lens of human perspective. Our process begins with the inhabitant around whom each space is formed by carefully manipulating volume, material, light, texture, and color. Architecture should look good, feel good, sound good, and engage each of the senses as is appropriate for its function.

We have been working together since 2011 and have 28+ years of combined experience in residential and commercial architecture. We are committed to creating regionally sensitive, scale-appropriate, and timeless architecture that elevates users' experience of space.

Services

We are a full-service architecture and design firm, providing our clients with unique design vision through an iterative and collaborative design process. Our precise, technical documentation of the work ensures each detail contributes to a durable, thoughtful end result.

Each project can be divided into four design phases: Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), Construction Documents (CD) and Construction Administration (CA). We begin our SD phase with a thorough client interview and site and programming analysis to get to know the client and their site. This base knowledge provides us with the information we need to generate initial space planning and concepts for the siting and massing of the structure(s). With client approval, we formally document our progress with a Schematic Design drawing set, which is used by the builder to complete an initial pricing estimate. After clearing this checkpoint, we proceed into DD, in which we incorporate consultant feedback into a well coordinated drawing set which is again priced by the contractor and often used as the permit set for the local jurisdiction. During the CD phase we continue to develop and refine the smallest details of the project to ensure consistency and quality for all interior and exterior conditions. Once construction commences we begin CA and regularly visit the site to observe progress and provide design support to the builder and the client.

We use state-of-the-art three-dimensional design and documentation software to provide visualizations and renderings that allow our clients to be immersed in the spaces we design. We use this software to integrate Building Information Modeling (BIM) for efficient and precise coordination with our consultants (structural, civil and MEP engineers, lighting designer and landscape architect). This leads to the delivery of precise drawings to the builder.

Our rigorous design process is structured to ensure the resulting building appropriately responds to the client's lifestyle, complements the site, is respectful of its context, and maintains the highest level of quality. We have found that this leads to architecture that is as unique as our clients and their properties.
