As my wife and I were preparing to welcome our first child, we spent countless hours searching for well designed and well made products. Realizing that this search without and endless budget or an affinity for mass-produced kit furniture would be unsatisfactory, we outlined a few pieces that we would design and fabricate over the years. The first object we selected was a step stool and a kitchen work station. We wanted to create a safe but beautiful space for our daughter to help in the kitchen, but also a sturdy step stool that we could use for the years beyond that would be welcome and appropriate in our kitchen.  

 

This piece is fabricated with Ash and a significant amount of patience and persistence with a domino joiner and a router. Our daughter loves it and our overflow storage can be reached without pulling out a ladder or a flimsy and unsightly plastic stool.
