Progress in Victor, ID
February 9th, 2024 | UA | Construction Progress
A year and a half after our first new build broke ground, it is nearing completion. Located in Victor, ID, it is situated on three quarters of an acre with views to Targhee National Forest and the Teton, Snake River, and Big Hole mountain ranges. Access to skiing, fishing, hiking and biking trails, a golf course and more make the neighborhood and its immediate surroundings a prime location in Teton Valley.
The property is in a development with strict design guidelines that favor a traditional aesthetic. Having more contemporary tastes, the clients desired a cleaner, more minimal home than what is typically allowed. Working within the design guidelines, we ultimately ended up with a formally conventional home with a simple, minimal interior. A restrained material palette, rigorous detailing and a minimalist approach to decoration and furnishings distinctly contrast the street appearance with the interior experience. Large windows and light materials make for bright interior spaces while the building siting and selective plantings maintain privacy where needed.
The house is separated into two wings. The "living wing" faces the street and is oriented towards the primary views, and consists of the main entry, living room, kitchen and dining room. The second wing contains three bedroom suites and an office and is concealed from the road by the other wing.
